SOUTHEAST CHAPTER
APT's Southeast Region Chapter was founded in 2003 at Jekyll Island, Georgia. The chapter's geographic region includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Since its inception, the chapter has maintained a rigorous agenda. In addition to chapter meetings, members managed the APT display at the 2004 Masters of the Building Arts Festival in Charleston; sponsored a program entitled "Historic Preservation for Building Industry Professionals" in conjunction with the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation's Industry Council, where we also helped organize several hands-on workshops; participated in the International Preservation Trades Network Workshop's annual gathering and the Alabama Preservation Conference in Mobile; and successfully lobbied to bring the 2006 APT annual conference to Atlanta.
Like its parent organization, the Southeast Region Chapter is a non-profit, educational organization that encourages, promotes, and advances research, training, and the dissemination of information relating to preservation technology and the preservation of buildings, sites, and objects in the southeastern United States. The chapter is in the process of developing technical preservation tours, workshops, symposia, a newsletter, and various preservation-related volunteer opportunities. The chapter welcomes new members and guests to all of its meetings and functions.
