Workshop BBQ at the Garten Verein - [SE1]
Wednesday, November 3, 6:30 pm

Join your fellow workshop participants and enjoy the ambience of the historic Garten Verein constructed in 1879 as a dance pavilion by the foremost German social club in Galveston. Dinner will be Texas BBQ with all the fixin’s and there will be a cash bar. You will be able to enjoy walking in the grounds of Kempner Park and visiting the Albert Kuhn Memorial Pergola.

Transportation will be provided from the Hotel Galvez.


The Golf Challenge - [SE2]

The Golf Challenge will be Wednesday, November 3 from 1:00 pm – 5:30 pm at the Galveston Island Golf Course, 1700 Sydnor Lane. This is a true “links” course with a lot of water and wildlife. The course is fairly easy for the beginning golfer, so we encourage all to participate.

Participants will be responsible for transportation to and from the golf course.


Opening Reception at the Texas Seaport Museum - [SE3]

Meet your colleagues and friends for a kick-off reception at the Texas Seaport Museum. You will have the opportunity to come aboard the 187 tall ship Elissa where guides from the Galveston Historical Foundation will share the history of beautiful vessel. View the port activity and see the workshops used for the ship’s maintenance. The museum houses records of more than 133,000 immigrants who entered the United States through the Port of Galveston as well as historical artifacts relating to the history of the Port of Galveston. Ladies are asked not to wear high heels on board the Elissa.

During the reception there will be three showings of the film The Great Storm, in the theatre adjacent to the Museum. The Great Storm graphically tells the story of the Hurricane of 1900 and relates how it has defined the history of this great city.
Showtimes will be 7:15, 7:45 and 8:15 pm.
Transportation will be provided from the Hotel Galvez.


Annual Meeting and Luncheon - [SE4]

Banquet and Awards Ceremony at the Hotel Galvez - [SE5]

Join us in the elegant Music Room at Hotel Galvez and experience the taste and sounds from South of the Border. The Galvez was designed by the St. Louis architects Mauran and Russell and was built in 1911. The Spanish Mission style hotel was built to advertise Galveston’s recovery from the 1900 hurricane. It was renovated by Ford, Powell and Carson in the early 190s returning the main floor to its historic elegance.

The evening will continue with the induction of new members of the APT College of Fellows and recognition of those Fellows present. The APT Student Scholarship winners will also be introduced. Presidential citations will be presented as well. The event will conclude with the announcement of the winners of the Oliver Torrey Fuller Award, the Anne de Fort-Menares Award and the Harley J. McKee Award.


Closing Party and Home Tour at the 1861 Custom House - [SE6]

A select number of the many elegant homes in this historic district will be open for you to visit. The evening will culminate with a party at the 1861 US Custom House which was the first non-military federal building to be constructed by the US Government in Texas. The Custom House also served as a courtroom and a post office and is now the Headquarters of the Galveston Historical Foundation who will be our host for the evening. The building is still owned by the US Government. This will be a relaxed evening with a cash bar and delicious food served by Benno’s, an Island institution.
