TICRAT 2018Date: June 13 - 15, 2018
This year Pecos NHP, in northern New Mexico, will be hosting a TICRAT (International Conference on the Conservation and Restoration of Earthen Architecture) at the park from June 13-15th. The park is located 20 miles east of Santa Fe, New Mexico. (Park website: www.nps.gov/peco/index.htm)
The park is working with the University of New Mexico, the NPS Vanishing Treasures program, Cornerstones Inc., and INAH Mexico to provide hands-on workshops and lectures focused on the preservation of earthen architecture.
Topics will include adobe construction/preservation, materials analysis, condition assessment and monitoring, mud and lime plastering, repointing mortar joints, veneer construction techniques, and mud capping to name a few.
Tuition is covered for NPS staff to attend on a first come-first serve basis until funds run out. Preference will be given to NPS staff who actively manage or preserve sites with earthen architecture or earthen components.
Please see the attached flier for initial registration information. We will send out more info as accommodations and details are confirmed. Please save the date!
We look forward to a great workshop in the beautiful mountains of northern New Mexico!
