Giving to APT
For more than 40 years APT has played a seminal role in the preservation movement, not just in North America but internationally. Begun as a joint venture between American and Canadian preservationists in 1968, the membership now stands at over 1,500, representing 30 countries around the globe.
APT is the premier information resource for preservationists worldwide, especially through its publications, the APT Bulletin and Communiqué, and through its technical training courses and conferences. APT provides extraordinary opportunities for the cross-disciplinary exchange of ideas, and our devoted and loyal members attest to their strong professional and personal attachment to the organization.
During the past decade the development and successful implementation of a strategic plan have put APT in its strongest-ever position, both programmatically and financially. To ensure the continuation of APT's core programs and allow for future growth, APT is committed to maintaining a firm financial foundation.
Like so many other not-for-profit organizations, APT relies on contributions, above and beyond membership dues, to help fund its many programs and publications. We invite you to consider making a gift(s) to support the APT endowment, student scholarships, annual conference or specific ongoing programs. Please refer to the descriptions below to find out more about how you can help APT fulfill its mission by making a gift.
APT's greatest current financial need is to build its endowment, which is known as the APT Fund.
The current goal for the APT Fund is to raise $500,000 by 2018, APT's 50th anniversary. Interest from a portion of the endowment will be unrestricted, in order to allow the Board of Directors to deal with changing organizational needs and to be responsive to special opportunities that support APT's mandate. The endowment will also be used to provide scholarships for students and early-career professionals so that they can attend APT's annual conferences. In addition, permanent endowments for scholarships can be established in the name of individuals, companies, or foundations for contributions totaling $25,000 or more.
You are invited to join your fellow professionals in supporting the APT Fund with your tax-deductible contribution. Please be as generous as you can. Make an online donation now.
Annual Conference Sponsorship
Partnering with APT at its annual conference is the best way to reach 500+ industry professionals and tradespersons working in the preservation industry. Your company will benefit through numerous opportunities to meet many specifiers in person and better associate your brand with the premiere international association for preservation technology. Just as important, your partnership allows APT to continue its tradition of excellence.
This year’s conference will be held in Ottawa, Canada October 11-14, 2017. The Conference Sponsorship Prospectus outlines the many partnership opportunities. Contact us for more information.
Student Scholarship Program
APT sponsors student scholars at every annual APT conference. This encourages students in preservation-related fields to actively participate in the conference and to receive professional feedback on their work. This interaction benefits the students as well as the professional conference attendees. These are the preservation leaders of the future!
Each year APT provides financial assistance to around 15 students to enable them to attend the conference. Without this assistance, most of them would be unable to participate. This effort costs APT approximately $23,000 or $1500 per student.
APT has helped to support over 130 students since 2003. Please consider an online donation to help young preservationists experience the invaluable educational and networking opportunities available at the APT annual conference.
