Published three times per year, the Bulletin is the ultimate source for state-of-the-art information-from debates on preservation versus restoration to the latest on such topics as paint and mortar analysis, computer imagery, and roofing. The Bulletin's feature articles and book reviews keep readers on the leading edge of the field.
Communiqué, APT's quarterly electronic newsletter, alerts members to current projects, new job postings, the latest publications, awards, grant deadlines, and upcoming conferences and symposia around the world.
In 2006 APT will introduce two new publication projects: Practice Points and the Digital Archive of Building Technology.
Practice Points will feature the application of existing and cutting-edge technologies, share original research in the history of building technology and materials, or present recent case studies in which new technologies and techniques have been used. Practice Points will appear in the APT Bulletin and will also be available to APT members on this Web site.
APT Digital Archive of Building Technology will contain scanned primary source materials such as technical manuals from building-trade associations and trade catalogs for products that enjoyed wide-spread use. These materials will be easily accessed through this new digital archive, which is sure to become a valuable research tool for anyone working in the field of historic preservation.
The Preservation Technology Primer is a new guide to preservation practice with articles of cutting-edge technologies, preservation theory, and innovative solutions from leading international practitioners. The Primer brings together 52 of the best articles that have been published over the past 40 years in the APT Bulletin, the leading technical journal for professionals in historic preservation. This new publication is an important ready reference for those entering the field and provides a much-needed text for preservation-technology courses in academic programs and in training and education programs for crafts and trades.
