Eastern Great Lakes

EGL Chapter LogoThe APT Eastern Great Lakes Chapter encompasses Michigan, northern Ohio and northern Indiana, and potentially southwestern Ontario. Our chapter is committed to serving this large geographic community with regional and local preservation events.

After canvassing APT membership from the upper Midwest in 2008, a core group from the eastern great lakes area initiated the formation of this chapter. The first meeting included a tour of an old train depot undergoing restoration, followed by lunch, and the second meeting focused specifically on the task of chapter formation. Subsequently, we set goals to hold regularly scheduled bi-monthly events that combine education with a social component, usually meaning lunch.

It is our intent to work in partnership with the Michigan Historic Preservation Network, and other regional preservation organizations, to increase the diversity of preservation activities in our region and to expose new people to the mission of APT.
