Materials Discussion #7: Ask a Craftsperson December 15th at 5pm ET Register here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUkcOispjopGNQp8gCa1x2mR-rIMWUg8pS9 Introduction: Scagliola, often mistaken for marble, is a technique that employs plaster and pigments to produce intricate designs that imitate decorative stone. It is often found in walls, columns, floors, sculptures, tabletops, and inlays throughout places of worship, government, and commercial buildings. The “scag” technique originated in Italy and was made popular during The Renaissance, eventually finding its way to the US in the 19th century. Please join us and Christopher Reeder in this edition of Ask the Craftsperson, where you can ask the craftsperson all about this specific traditional technique. Presenters: Christopher Reeder of EverGreene Architectural Arts has been working on decorative finishes for the past two decades. Within Decorative Finishes, Reeder's expertise lies in restoration and fabrications of Scagliola, as well as restoration of ornamental plaster and other forms of decorative finishes. 1 AIA CES Materials Discussions are scheduled for one brief 20 minute talk followed by a group discussion.
