HDP Summer Employment Application Deadline

Heritage Documentation Programs, in collaboration with the National Council for Preservation Education (NCPE), seeks applications from qualified students and recent graduates for 2020 summer employment documenting historic sites and structures of architectural, landscape, and technological significance throughout the United States. Duties involve on-site field work and the preparation of measured and interpretive drawings and written historical reports for the HABS/HAER/HALS Collection at the Prints and Photographs Division of the Library of Congress. Projects last 12 weeks, beginning in late May or early June. Salaries range from approximately $8,000 to $12,000 for the summer, depending upon job responsibility and level of experience. Positions will be located at the HDP office in Washington, DC.

Applications are due March 16, 2020 (new deadline).

Positions are open to currently enrolled graduate students, and to undergraduate students who will have completed three years of course work by the beginning of summer 2020. Recent graduates (degree awarded October 2018 or later) may also apply. Successful applicants will be hired as U.S. Government contractors through NCPE.

Positions are open only to United States citizens. Foreign citizens seeking summer employment may wish to look for opportunities via the U.S. National Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (US/ICOMOS).

Note:

Applicants who wish to be considered for both Architect/Landscape Architect and Historian positions must submit two separate and complete applications.
Applicants who wish to be considered for other NCPE internships (not with HDP) must submit separate applications directly to NCPE.
